As the 2026 NCAA baseball season heats up, the second week of March promises a slate of must-watch matchups that could shape the early narrative in the hunt for Omaha. With non-conference games winding down and SEC and ACC powers set to clash, here are the series and showdowns that stand out this week.

Florida State vs. Florida (Tuesday, March 10, Gainesville, FL)

The annual Sunshine State rivalry takes on extra weight this year. No. 15 Florida State (13-2), riding a nine-game win streak and fresh off back-to-back run-rule victories, rolls into Gainesville with its lineup finally finding rhythm. Myles Bailey anchors a Seminoles offense, with 18 home runs (six from Bailey) and 37 doubles through 10 games.

But No. 18 Florida (14-3) will be the toughest test yet. The Gators are looking to rebound after dropping two of three to High Point, snapping a 13-game win streak. Florida’s bats are equally formidable (.313 average, .536 slug, 26 home runs led by Brendan Lawson’s eight) while the pitching staff has racked up 182 strikeouts with a 3.47 ERA. Expect fireworks as both teams look to make a statement.

Ole Miss vs. Southern Miss (Tuesday, March 10, Hattiesburg, MS)

No. 15 Ole Miss (15-2) enters with a five-game win streak, but their offense is boom-or-bust—home runs, walks, or strikeouts, leading to missed scoring opportunities. They’ve mashed 35 home runs (10 from Judd Utermark) with a .308 average. Pitching has not been slacking, either, earning an NCAA DI 11th-best ERA(2.75).

Southern Miss (No. 11) counters with a well-rounded attack (.278 average, 24 home runs, 2.68 ERA), only three spots away from Ole Miss in ERA at No. 14, making this a classic in-state showdown.

Georgia Tech vs. Clemson (Three-game series starts Thursday, March 12, Clemson, SC)

No. 5 Georgia Tech (14-2) is rewriting the record books, averaging nearly 14 runs per game and setting a new Power 4 BBCOR-era record for hits through 15 games (223). The Yellow Jackets are outscoring opponents by 150 runs this season, with a .404 team average, .675 slugging, and 33 home runs.

No. 9 Clemson (15-1) is freshly in the top 10 and looking to earn their keep. They’re fresh off a 52-run outburst in a series sweep and own the NCAA DI third-best ERA (1.76). The Clemson Tigers have never looked better under Erik Bakich; this ACC clash could preview June’s College World Series.

Tennessee vs. Georgia (Three-game series starts Friday, March 13, Athens, GA)

No. 19 Tennessee (12-4) enters its matchup with questions swirling around its offense, which has struggled to meet the program’s recent standards. While the Volunteers’ pitching remains elite—boasting a 3.13 ERA (5th-best in Division I) and holding opponents to a .200 average—the bats have lagged, managing just a .268 average and 22 homers. Tennessee’s six-game home split with Kent State and Wright State, including two walk-off wins, underscores their offensive inconsistency.

Georgia, ranked No. 8 at 15-3, is still seeking validation after an offseason overhaul that brought in 26 new faces. The Bulldogs have flexed serious power with a Division I-leading 61 home runs and a robust .353 team average, but have yet to face a Power Four opponent or leave their home state. Fatigue in late-week games is a concern for the Bulldogs as SEC play begins.

Mississippi State vs. Arkansas (Three-game series starts Friday, March 13, Fayetteville, Ar)

Meanwhile, No. 3 Mississippi State, fresh off a dominant sweep of Lipscomb, outsourcing the Bison 43-7. The Bulldogs’ deep lineup led by Ace Reese and Noah Sullivan has powered a .356 average. Pitching rotation has been similarly dominant posting a 1.15 WHIP.

But, No. 5 Arkansas counters with the SEC’s stingiest staff (2.74 ERA, .199 BAA). But runs seem hard to come by for the Razorbacks, ranking in the league’s bottom three in runs scored and on-base plus slugging percentage. Points will be at a premium in Fayetteville this weekend.

Get ready—March baseball has never felt this electric.
